Getting Started
Installing TeeShot
Connect to the iPhone AppStore from your iPod or iPod touch or use the iTunes store and search for TeeShot. A few more simple clicks (and only $19.99 later) you're downloading TeeShot to your device. Future updates to version 1.x are free and you will be notified when they are ready for download.

Getting Courses
Use TeeShot Live course search to search by course name or location for the golf course you're looking for. When you find the course, just tap "Download this course" and it will be automatically downloaded to TeeShot on your iPhone.

If you don't find the course you're looking for - no problem. You can create a blank course on your iPhone and enter the information for the tees you will play. When you're done, you can even upload it to TeeShot Live by tapping the "Upload course to TeeShotLive.com" button on the course screen in TeeShot. Then other golfers will be able to download the course and save lots of time the next time they go to your course.

You can also just start a new round from the TeeShot home page and when it asks you just tap "Start with a blank course" and you can enter your scores and course information as you go.

If you want to enter several courses, check out CourseBuilder. An application for Macintosh and Windows that makes it much easier to enter all of the course information and upload it to TeeShot Live, or you can try our online course creator beta right here on TeeShot Live.

Starting a round
From the home screen in TeeShot, just tap "Start a new round" and either choose a course on your device, or start with a blank course. If you choose an existing course, first select the course, then the tee set you will be playing from and tap "Start Round" in the top right corner. This will put you on the Round Scoring page. Tap the hole you're starting from and you will see the scoring options for this hole.

If you're playing with friends, just tap Add Player (or Edit->Add a player if you're on the players list screen already) and choose up to three more players to track for the round.

Tracking your score
Quick and easy
You can track as much information about your round as you would like. If you want to go the quick route, just tap the button next to strokes each time you hit the ball. When you hit a putt, you just tap the button next to putts and it will count the putt as both a putt and a stroke. Tap the fairway button after your tee shot to record whether you hit the fairway, or were off to the left or right. If you should incur a penalty (heaven forbid!) just tap the button next to penalties and TeeShot will keep track of them for you. If you ever hit the button too many times, just tap the button on the other side to reduce the count.

Detailed and easy
If you want to gather even more information, tap the "Shot by Shot Details" button below the scoring area and for each shot, choose the type of shot it is (Tee, fairway, approach, chip, putt). Then you will be able to select the club you're using, the result of the shot (fairway, green, left, right, long, etc) and approximately how long the shot was. These shots will be tracked back on the hole scoring page as well so you don't need to enter them twice. Since there isn't a slot for a third putt, you can count those back on the hole scoring page (we figure you won't really want to track that much information about any putt past the second -- if we're wrong let us know and we can add more options in a future version!)

Multiple users and easy
When you are scoring for more players, you can use the quick and detailed options, but you can also use the new group scoring screen where you see up to four players on a single screen. Tap any of the values you want to change and just enter the new strokes, putts or penalties. The group scoring page also shows you each player's net and stableford scores on each hole as well as little dots next to each player's name indicating how many strokes they get on this hole.

When you're done with the scoring for the current hole, just tap the next arrow in the top right corner of the hole scoring page to go to the next hole.

At any point during the round, feel free to look at previous rounds, other courses or statistics. It is easy to get back to your current round just by tapping the "Current round" icon in the bottom right corner. It will immediately jump you back to the current round's scoring page.

Tracking your distances
GPS tracking
If you have a GPS enabled iPhone you can set the location for each of you shots from the tee up to the green. When you set these locations, TeeShot will measure the distance of the shot and calculate your average shot distance for each club. If the course you are playing has GPS data set for the greens, you will also see your distance to the middle of the green.

To set the location of your shot, just tap Set GPS Location in the shot by shot details page for your current shot while you are standing near your ball. Once it has figured out the current location, tap Save Location for TeeShot to remember this shot's location and calculate the distance from the tee, your last shot and to the center of the green.
